All in a Day Play Festival Participants

Dreamwell Theatre and City Circle Acting Company of Coralville are proud to announce the actors, directors and writers for the 4th Annual All in a Day Play Festival. The evening before the event, seven writers, seven directors and thirty-five actors will meet to receive their script assignments: including characters, themes and locations. The writers will whip out drafts overnight and actors and directors will work like mad to create seven brand new plays for Sunday’s performance. The show is 7:30 pm on Sunday, August 28 at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts. The evening will be emceed by Angie Toomsen and Kevin Moore. Dreamwell Auditions for Miller’s The Crucible Auditions are at the Iowa City Public Library: Sunday, August 7, 1 p.m. Monday, August 8, 6:30 p.m ABOUT THE SHOW: Dreamwell Theatre is proud to announce auditions for Arthur Miller’s dark and gripping account of the 1692 Salem witch trials. Performance dates are Sept 30, Oct 1, 7, 8. Scott Strode directs. Please direct questions about the production to info@dreamwell.com. AUDITION INFO: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Scripts are on reserve at the Iowa City Public Library starting 7/12. Auditionees are asked to show up at the beginning of the posted audition time and be available to stay as long as is needed. If you have a scheduling conflict, please let us know ahead of time, if possible. Dreamwell considers actors of all ethnicities and ages. All are encouraged to audition. SUMMARY: The Crucible explores witch hunts, betrayal and mass hysteria in society. Miller’s classic play resonates with audiences in this century and the last as a parable about identity and freedom. Location: Country Camp Farm, 3418 Osage Street, SW, Iowa City, Iowa. $12 General, $10 Seniors, $8 Students Reserve Tickets for Soldier’s Daughter now! 13-year old Tigerlily is waiting for her dad to return from the latest of many deployments to Afghanistan. She prays his homecoming will be for good this time. Asleep on the porch of her farmhouse, she wakes to her her dream come true: her father stands before her and takes her on a story walk around their farm, a special tradition between the two of them. At each location on the farm, a new story unfolds. But, something is different this time and, as the walk progresses, Tigerlily realizes her future may never be the same. Soldier’s Daughter is a very special promenade-style performance at Country Camp, a working performance farm, where the audience will promenade from one unique location to another, against the absorbing beauty of the Iowa landscape.
