Dreamwell will hold auditions for On the Verge by Eric Overmyer, directed by Amanda L. Mayfield, on July 31st from 6:30-8:30 and August 1st from 6:30-8:30 at the Iowa City Public Library. Callbacks will be held August 3rd. Actors will be asked to read sides from the script. Performances will be September 22, 23, 29 and 30 at 7:30pm. Rehearsals will primarily be Monday thru Thursday 7-9:30. For questions about auditions email amanda.l.mayfield@gmail.com Director’s Note: This is a play about language and imagination. The cast must be strong storytellers. Overmyer is handing us deliciously challenging words that paint beautiful and surreal images in our minds. We travel through time and space as we explore new ideas and historical artifacts . Character Breakdown In Eric Overmyer’s own words – this requires a sense of whimsy and a strong cast. Ages are listed just a suggestion – don’t let that stop you from auditioning for a specific character! Alex: 20-30 Alex is the youngest. She is the most modern and the most out of place in the Victorian world. She has boundless energy. Fanny: 30 – 40 Fanny is from the Midwest. She is conservative and has a wry wit. Help us celebrate a great year by joining us for our 4th annual Night of Stars. The event will include an awards ceremony, with awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Actress, Best Tech, Best Director and Best Play. There will also be special awards given by our directors and the Dreamwell board. There will be entertainment, light snacks, and wine and beer (donation suggested for alcohol).
