7:30 pm February 19, 20, 26, 27 2010, 10 S. Gilbert St. Iowa City (corner of Gilbert and Iowa). Directed by Meg Dobbs and Brian Tanner.
Iowa Theatre Blog says “Poona is a Daring Success.”
Backstage with Poona!
Ok, it’s really not for kids! For mature audiences for explicit language and adult situations. The perfect dark fairy tale to open a “taboo†season, this show skewers society’s views on everything from sex to terrorism to language. (Despite the title, this play is not suitable for children. Got that? You did see the main title right?). Directed by Meg Dobbs and Brian Tanner, produced by special arrangement with Original Works Publishing.
These outrageous “Fairy tales for Grown-ups†are not for the easily offended! Poona, our ingenuous heroine, meets up with aliens, talking shrubs, and mealy-mouthed salesmen in her quest to find someone to play with. Nothing is sacred in this raucous assault on the power of language.
“Irresistible.†New York Times

“S*&t-yourself hysterical. Two hours of theater magic that will go down in infamy.†The Stranger, Seattle
