Matthew Brewbaker, Dreamwell’s artistic director, will run the workshop. Mr. Brewbaker will guide the participants through the six viewpoints technique, which was originally created by Mary Overlie, Wendell Beavers, and Anne Bogart. The workshop will explore the basic compositional vocabulary of Space, Time, Shape, Movement, Story, and Emotion through structured improvisation. Mr. Brewbaker, who studied with Mr. Beavers for two years, intends to also provide other practical and philosophical approaches to making the actor a more creative part of the process of theater.
The workshop dates are Sunday, September 25, and October 2, 9, and 23; all sessions will run from 10 AM to 1 PM. It will be held at the Dreamwell Theatre Space in the Old Capitol Town Center at 201 S. Clinton, in Iowa City, IA. To sign up for the workshop, call (319) 541-0140 or register on our tickets page. The cost of the four session workshop is $40.
