A play that is perhaps more relevant today than when it was first produced,
Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me explores the daily crises of three hostages, an Englishman,
an Irishman and an American, who are imprisoned in the Middle East. Dreamwell first
brought this show to Iowa City audiences in 1998. The original cast and director return
to re-create one of our finest shows.

This classic play chronicles the shameless, voracious pursuit of
total pleasure and sensual self-fulfillment by Baal, a young artist. His companionship
with Ekart, a complex love-hate relationship that is at times erotic, nurturing, violent,
and indifferent, explores the consequences of hedonism.

The play chronicles the lives of Alison and Liza as they navigate the channels of motherhood while holding on to their careers. Through monologues, they take a revealing and comedic look at the balancing act of promise and compromise. Both women explore the idea of who they think they are, who they want to be, and ultimately, who they become as individuals, as mothers, and as professionals. They learn that sometimes we become people we never intended to be, but in the end that is better than we ever could have predicted.

Fortinbras, a hilarious sequel to Shakespeare’s immortal tragedy
Hamlet, begins immediately after Hamlet’s death. When young Fortinbras of Norway and
his army march into Elsinore, he finds the entire royal family dead, and immediately
sets about the first order of business for any new leader – lying to the public. The
story he concocts to fortify his claim to the throne is going pretty well, too – until
the ghosts of Hamlet, Ophelia, Polonius, and more start to appear.
Unless otherwise noted, all shows are performed at the Dreamwell Theatre space which is
located on the 2nd floor at Old Capital Town Center in downtown Iowa City,
Iowa. Curtain for all performances is 8 PM. The doors open at 7:30 pm; it
is open seating so we recommend arriving early.
