Dreamwell Theatre is holding auditions for Noël Coward’s Design for Living, directed by Will Asmus Auditions will take place at the Iowa City Public Library:Sunday, November 17: 1-4 pmMonday, November 18: 6-8:30 pm Actors will be asked to read sides from the script. A copy of the script will be available for your perusal at beginning November 1stthe Iowa City Public Library at the 2nd floor info desk. Actors of all ethnicities and identities are welcome and encouraged to audition. Design for Living plays at The Artifactory in Iowa City: February 14-15, and 21-22, 2025. Synopsis: “The actual facts are so simple. I love you. You love me. You love Otto. I love Otto. Otto loves you. Otto loves me. There now! Start to unravel from there.” Design for Living is a wickedly witty dark romantic comedy by Noel Coward. Initially banned in the UK, this provocative play portrays three amoral, glib, and stylish characters and their hopelessly inescapable, if also unconventional, emotional entanglement. From 1930s bohemian Paris to the dizzying heights of Manhattan society, a tempestuous love triangle unravels between vivacious interior designer Gilda, playwright Leo, and artist Otto—three people unashamedly and passionately in love with each other. Dreamwell’s 2024-2025 Season

Dreamwell Theatre is thrilled to announce our 27th season! We will kick off our 2024-2025 season with Myocardium; Graphite, a brand new piece by Eli Campbell, directed by Kayla Adams. Both Eli and Kayla are MFA students at the University of Iowa. Eli and the cast and crew are workshopping the play, collaborating at The ArtiFactory, whose gallery and performance space inspired this piece. Dreamwell Theatre and The Artifactory are partnering on this unique and entertaining experience. The final product will be performed December 6-7 and 13-14 at The Artifactory. The play follows two young women who enroll in a figure drawing class at a community center in Iowa City, only to find they’re getting a lot more than they signed up for. In February, Will Asmus will direct Noël Coward’s, Design for Living. This comedy follows Gilda, Leo and Otto, three friends working to define their relationships with one another. Can this menage a trois successfully navigate their love for each other? Design for Living plays at The Artifactory February 14-15, and 21-22. We’ll wrap up our season with The Penelopiad, by Margaret Atwood at The James Theater, March 6-9. UI Stanley Art Museum Director Lauren Lessing to Give Talk Back at Artemisia

We are excited to announce that Lauren Lessing will be giving a talk back following our performance of Artemisia on Saturday, June 29. Lauren Lessing is the director of the UI Stanley Museum of Art. She oversees the management and care of the Stanley Museum of Art’s collections as well as its curatorial, educational, and administrative activities. Dr. Lessing is an art historian and educator with more than 25 years of experience working in museums, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, and the Colby College Museum of Art in Maine. During her time at the Colby, she built the museum’s academic outreach, volunteer docent, and school-visit programs from the ground up; directed community outreach and programming; linked museum collections and exhibitions to curriculum at the college; and co-created public programs to serve audiences from the college to the surrounding communities and beyond. Dr. Lessing holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in fine art from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, as well as a Master of Library Science degree, a Master of Arts in history of art, and a PhD in history of art from Indiana University in...
