In just a couple days, Dreamwell Theatre and City Circle Acting Company of Coralville will host the 5th Annual All in a Day Play Festival, Sept. 1 at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts. The two theatre companies will once again join forces for this award-winning event to create seven ten minute plays in just 24 hours. Last year’s installment had the distinction of being the first performance to grace the stage of the CCPA! This year’s festival promises to be just as exciting!

On the night before the event, seven writers, seven directors and 30+ actors will come together to create seven original plays. Writers are randomly assigned a location, a genre and one other dramatic detail they are charged with to include in their scripts. Writers, actors and directors brainstorm ideas and then the writers scurry away to create a ten minute play by 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. At that time, the actors and directors take over.Twenty four hours from the start – after a whirlwind of creative mayhem – theatre lovers are treated to a variety of unique shows at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts. Plays and performances are adjudicated and awards will be presented for performances, plays and directors. This has become a very popular event, for participants and audience members alike. In it’s 5th year, it’s sure to be as exciting and dynamic as ever!
